It is an honour to welcome you to the third edition of the American School of Dubai Model United Nations conference. First and foremost, congratulations on your appointment to the Council. As the prime executive organ of the United Nations, the Security Council is entrusted with the maintenance of international peace and security. As such, delegates are entrusted with a great deal of responsibility. The Council’s leadership team is eager to see how you will use your position in the Council to develop innovative solutions to today’s pressing issues.
This year’s conference theme, Innovation in a Rapidly Changing World, serves as the cornerstone of the Council’s topics for debate. As today’s problems take on a new character, today’s leaders must evolve to create innovative solutions to our ever-changing issues. As delegates in the Security Council, you have been tasked with addressing nuclear escalation in the DPRK, combating increased cyber warfare between state and non state actors, and discussing the potential expansion of the Council itself.
Delegates of the Security Council are entrusted with the unique opportunity to participate at the highest level of MUN debate. With this position of high esteem comes a commitment to diligent research, confident articulation, and active participation. As the executives of the Security Council, we look forward to hearing your countries’ informed positions and reading your well-crafted resolutions.
