Delegates of the Security Council, The Security Council executive team wishes you a warm welcome to the second iteration of the American School of Dubai Model United Nations Conference. Congratulations on your position in the Security Council.
As arguably the most influential wing of the United Nations today, the Security Council deals with matters of international security as it strives to maintain international peace and stability. As delegates in the Security Council, you will be tasked with finding effective solutions to such issues of international concern.
The three issues the Security Council will address are derived from this year’s Conference theme, “Restoring Peace.” Issues such as the prevention of the growth Lone Wolf terrorism as propagated by the Islamic State and the prevention of further nuclear escalation in the DPRK. Debate on these topics will be highly focused and decidedly solution-based.
In order to achieve our goal of fruitful, entertaining debate, it is crucial that all delegates, regardless of delegation, come adequately prepared and ready to participate. The Security Council is unlike many other MUN forums in this regard. As delegates of such a highly esteemed forum, the onus is on you to set an example for the highest quality of debate.
The Security Council Executive Team has strong confidence that this year’s Security Council will exemplify both the values of the American School of Dubai, and the United Nations at large, and we eagerly look forward to meeting all delegates and beginning debate.
