On behalf of the HRC executive team, we are thrilled to welcome you to the American School of Dubai’s first annual Model United Nations conference. We have been given the great privilege of leading this forum as its executive team. This year, we will delve into some of the most pressing humanitarian issues of our world today. We hope to create solutions that one day may ensure the protection of human rights for all individuals. We anticipate coming to a consensus and pushing forward resolutions that will aid humanity through stimulating discussion and debate.
Crucial issues were meticulously selected in order to bring forth a variety of ideas that would spark fervent discussions. To successfully debate these topics, a high level of intensive research and exploration, as well as analytical thinking are required. We hope delegates will arrive to these these rigorous discussions prepared, and leave the conference with new perspectives and insights on critical topics that will serve them well in the future.
This year’s topics fall under the theme of “Finding a Home.” The topics selected include: the reintegration of child soldiers into society and families after wartime, the treatment of indentured servants in South Asia, and the rights of people living in disputed territories.
The HRC executive team hopes that all delegates engage in fruitful debate at this year’s conference and enjoy their time both at the conference and in the beautiful city of Dubai. We encourage delegates to use this conference as a platform from which to challenge themselves and expand their knowledge with an optimistic but realistic approach. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact any members of this team at any time. We look forward to meeting you.
Regards,
Human Rights Council Executive Team
