On behalf of the ASDMUN team, it is our honor to welcome you to the first-ever ASDMUN conference hosted by the American School of Dubai. ASDMUN will be held from March 2nd- March 6th at the school campus in Al Barsha, Dubai. Dubai is home to citizens of almost every nationality in the world and we are holding this conference in the hopes that this diversity will create an environment for a conference that yields collaborative, innovative discussion and debate.
Our team has been busy building ASDMUN as a platform for meaningful discussion, debate, and resolution which high school students from all over the world can both participate in and enjoy. We hope to recreate the enthusiastic diplomacy practiced in the United Nations and help foster the next generation of world leaders by allowing them a chance to explore their skills and talents through writing, speaking, and negotiating in a stimulating environment. There will be six forums available for delegates to take part in: the General Assembly, Human Rights Commission, Environment Commission, Economic and Social Council, Security Council, and Arab Council. We are proud of the work the leaders of these forums have put in--they are all capable and passionate individuals who we know are up for the challenges their respective positions will pose.
Although the delegates will have three unique issues to debate in the different forums, there will be a common thread between them. Dubai neighbors Syria, Palestine, Iraq, and Yemen: countries currently known for their involvement in the refugee crisis currently gripping the Middle East. As a result of this, this year’s conference will be themed “Finding a Home.” We are confident in this idea's ability to bring about insightful debate concerning issues ranging from animal shelters to refugees of the environment to displaced persons of war.
We value each and every one of your concerns and recommendations and welcome you to contact us at any time. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact the ASDMUN Secretariat at ASDMUN@asdubai.org. We also encourage you to keep up with our conference updates via email.
We hope our first conference will prove an unforgettable experience where each of you will be meeting new people, exploring international politics, and engaging in diplomatic dialogue. Until then we look forward to welcoming you in person at at our opening ceremony in the spring.
Warm Regards,
Zahra Asghar and Noor Semaan Co-Secretary Generals
