The General Assembly Team like to welcome you to the third annual American School of Dubai Model United Nations Conference. Seeing as the General Assembly is notable for its versatility, it is no surprise that we will be debating an array of different topics affecting regions around the world. As a result, General Assembly can serve as both the commencement to your Model United Nations career or its continuation. In addition, this year’s General Assembly will be at a size never before seen as we will be hosting over 60 delegations. Delegates, in this conference, you have the liberty of both leading the pack, or slowly finding your voice in. When it comes to it, however, each delegate holds just as much purpose in this forum.
In this year’s conference, we will be entertaining the topics of, “Establishing peaceful measures to address the South China Sea Territorial Dispute,” “Tackling the growth of E-Waste in West Africa,” and “Ensuring developing countries’ sovereignty over their natural resources.” The world is advancing at an unrivaled rate; because of this, conflicts arise at a pace just as swift . As a result, these topics seamlessly reflect this year’s theme of “Innovation in a Rapidly Changing World.”
Each delegate is expected to contribute to all major aspects of the MUN process. Delegates are highly encouraged to research both the issue at hand as well as their delegation’s stance on it. Moreover, delegates are to come prepared and ready to lobby, debate, and express their positions to the forum with confidence and courtesy. Once again, we thank you for coming and expect nothing but great things from this year’s conference.
Warm regards, The General Assembly Team
